Seven prose works by Ludwik Bruner, who wrote as Jan Sten. The title novella is a young Pole's record of a month in Paris, from December into January, written as letters and a diary, in which loneliness, money troubles and an infatuation put him to the test. The other pieces include Hamlet, Przysięgły (The Juror), Spotkanie (The Meeting) and Trzy dusze (Three Souls).
